A family member is a current resident of Wesley Enhanced Living at Stapeley. Throughout the last ten years, our family has been engaged with a number of Assisted Living facilities. The staff at Stapely, by far, demonstrates care and concern for their residents. For example, a new prescription was submitted to the pharmacy, and when the order was received by the Personal Care Manager at Stapeley, she contacted us to make sure we were aware of the medication change. This is a new and welcomed experience for us. Communication is key and being on the same page!

Everyone is so caring and friendly. They have helped with everything from dealing with long term care insurance roadblocks, to making sure my mother has people to eat with.

Our family had an in person tour with Wesley Enhanced Living and the admission staff member that we met with, we really liked. We do understand it is a challenge to upgrade an old or historic building but the community just seemed worn down, dark and old.
In January, my mother became a Personal Care resident at Wesley Enhanced Living at Stapeley. She moved to Stapeley from a high-end independent living facility, in large part to be closer to my husband and me. Though Stapeley is an older facility and not as fancy as the one she left, she (and we!) are finding the Stapeley community to be warmer, more welcoming and with more resident activities and higher participation levels than she experienced in her previous, far more expensive, independent living facility. Though she's only been at Stapeley a month, she has met so many interesting people from both Personal Care and Independent Living who repeatedly tell both my mother and me, "You are going to like it here!" Stapeley is clean, well-maintained and has a warm, home-like aesthetic. The Fireside dining room has very good food. The staff have been kind and helpful. The nurses and on-site doctor are very competent. Overall, there is a great vibe at Stapeley. We're very grateful.

W.E.L at Stapeley only deserves applause! Admission process was easy and impressive. The building, historical value and grounds itself are an architectural gem hidden in he middle of Mt. Airy. The hallways were full of introductions and smiling happy hello’s. ALL of Stapeley staff(nursing, caretakers, kitchen prep, maintenance, room cleaners, laundry, front desk and management) are all A-#1!!!—kind, attentive, and compassionate. Nurse and doctor care is thorough and any questions or concerns are always addressed in a timely manner with much patience. One quickly becomes part of a Community at Stapeley- working, crying, and laughing together- supporting one another for both yourself/ family and your loved one. I had originally entered Mother in Memory Care(Bridges)in December . We have now moved to Skilled Care at Stapeley. The staff there already feels like extended family! I could not have made a better choice than Stapeley!!!

Our adult sons (both of whom live out of state), my husband, and I were fortunate that we were "matched" via [removed] with Wesley Enhanced Living at Stapeley. The level of care that my husband needed made it no longer financially sustainable for us to remain in our previous home; the Director of Marketing and Sales at WEL at Stapeley was able to provide sufficient incentives and discounts for us that a move here became doable. He worked tirelessly ensuring that there would be as few stresses as possible in our two-part transition, first my husband to Personal Care (the assisted living wing of the community), then me to an Independent Living apartment 8 days later. Once we were moved in, he demonstrated concern beyond his job description - everything from finding me a shower curtain on the first day (It had not been on our radar screen to bring one since the shower in our former residence had sliding doors.) to troubleshooting setting up the voicemail on my new phone.

There are really good activities here even though at times our loved one does not take advantage. There are different dining rooms here, and there is one dining room that is supposed to serve very delicious food, and something similar to a 5 course meal. However our loved one always decides to go to the other dining room where the meals are just okay. If they just went to the other dining room we are sure the meals would be much better.

The staff are stretched really thin; however, the moral is still high. They keep a good atmosphere for the residents. The community has a lot of interesting people. The building is beautiful and is full of sunlight.

September 30, 2021Hello and thank you for letting us know that your loved one is doing well at our Stapeley community! We pride ourselves on our caring and attentive staff and we're so glad it shows!
We chose Wesley Enhanced Living because of the value of the money as well as the convenient location. The staff were so friendly on the tour and that has carried through to this day. The apartment sizes are very good. I think they really pay close attention to the residents and their needs. I would recommend to others looking.

August 13, 2021Hi Elizabeth. We're thrilled to hear that your loved one is acclimating well to WEL and appreciate you sharing your experience! We'll continue to strive to go above and beyond expectations to best serve ou and your family.
We chose Wesley Enhanced Living because my sister really liked the director, he gave us a lot of good information and really explained the process thoroughly. I have only been in the facility a couple of times myself but the administrative have been very good with keeping in contact with my sister and were very accommodating through the process of getting her in here.

Response from Wesley Enhanced Living at Stapeley
July 26, 2021Thank you for your feedback about Wesley Enhanced Living at Stapeley.
We were really excited during the admissions process, but once we moved in, there was no communication. The sales director was still great, and would do things outside of his role like hook up our loved one's tv. But the nurses would never get back to us. Our loved one's landline phone wasn't plugged in, just sitting next to the jack. Her cell phone wasn't plugged in, just sitting next to the outlet. So we were never able to contact her. The nurse's stations always said they would have our loved one call us, and they never did. With dementia, our loved one would forget to eat, and was confused and thought she had to pay to go eat. She ended up losing so much weight, and was hospitalized for dehydration. The staff didn't notify me of the problem - I had no idea she wasn't eating or drinking until the hospitalization. When we would visit, nobody at the front desk would talk to us while we were there. We found the room and the facility to be nice, but the care and treatment are what really matters. When we went to pickup her things, her clothes and her pillow were missing.

Response from Wesley Enhanced Living at Stapeley
March 31, 2021We’re saddened to learn that your experience at Wesley Enhanced Living at Stapeley didn’t meet your expectations. It’s difficult to address issues publicly and would be happy to discuss all your concerns if you reach out to our Executive Director, Ken Beiler, directly. The allegations in your review aren’t up to our standards and would have been addressed had management been made aware. None of our staff can conclude who you might be discussing to understand the situation accurately. Thank you and we hope to hear from you to bring some clarity and resolution the situation.
We do a weekly zoom call with our loved one and the staff members that helps her set that up is wonderful. As far as we can tell since we aren't able to go in and see our loved one, she seems to be receiving okay care. We did have a little issue when it came to communication. She is on a number of medication and they do a care conference every 50 days, and we asked for an explanation of all the medication she was on. It took us awhile for them to finally send back a list explaining everything but that has now been resolved. We also have noticed that when our loved one falls whether it is minor or major they call us right away every single time. They also send out weekly emails to the families regarding all updates with covid whether that covers outbreaks in the community, if it was a resident or staff members. They also are keeping us informed with the first round of vaccine schedules.

Response from Wesley Enhanced Living at Stapeley
March 31, 2021Thank you! We're glad everything is going well and your loved one is happy at Wesley Enhanced Living at Stapeley.
I moved my mom to WEL Stapeley 5 years ago. She is in Personal Care. The staff have been the best! I have been kept well informed of my mother's care and any recommendations from her doctor. She is comfortable and well cared for. Over the 5 years her physical health and cognitive skills have declined but the staff have been able to provide for her. I am at peace knowing my mom is happy and well. Even during the COVID restrictions, I have been kept informed about the numbers of facility staff and residents effected by the virus and the precautions taken. Although we could not visit in person, the staff made sure I could FaceTime or Zoom with my mom weekly.

Its been about a month since we moved my mother into the Stapeley facility of Wesley Enhanced Living and my siblings and I are a very pleased. Mom's declining memory and other cognitive skills required a transition to a facility with expertise in memory care issues. The move from personal care at another Wesley residence to the Bridges unit at Stapeley was seamless. Patrick and his team helped my mom stay calm and eased her anxiety about moving to a new home. My mom has been much more active and is benefitting from a more structured daily routine. She even loves the food! Mom's journey continues in a safe and caring environment.

We chose this Wesley Enhanced Senior Living because we liked the location and the facility itself, it is very pretty with a lot of plants. The room sizes here are decent and they are nice. One of the other things that actually drew us to the facility was the activities that they provided pre-COVID. They also seem to have nice activity rooms. I would recommend.
