When we were looking for a facility: caring staff, cleanliness, food, and budget were the top considerations on our list and we feel like the Villa has been a Godsend! My father mentions to us daily how sweet everyone in the facility is to him and how much he likes the food. Any issues we have had have been minor and addressed immediately and with kindness and professionalism. We feel very fortunate to have found this place for our father!... Read more

I would give a negative value if I could. Traumatic and one of the worst experiences and memories of my life. Do not send anyone here. I feel like we were pressured into joining so we could get the rate my aunt could afford. She had signs of dementia but the facility tested her and said she could live on her own vs memory care. Her health quickly declined. She was stable and doing well the last 4 years. She moved in around [date removed] and passed away [date removed]. My mom visited every week but because of work hours could only visit late at night and on weekends. It could take an hour to get in and out of the facility which was very inconvenient. The day my aunt died my mom received a call from a lady saying to come up to Villa palazzo because my aunt wasn't breathing but the ambulance was there. My mom waited an hour outside the room. I met my mom. We waited outside until we were told we could go in. And when we walked in my aunt was laying dead on the floor. It was an awful last memory for my mother. We haven't even heard from the facility after this happened. We were rushed to find a funeral home to come pickup the body. It was absolutely horrible.

We picked this community, because iIt was near where my loved ones, condo was and near doctors. We also chose it for the value. Residents are friendly. Activity is moderate. Not real active but not quiet. Today they were playing jeopardy in the lobby. We would recommend it as a very good value for an average facility.

They are great! Very good with communication but it is hard to communicate with the nursing and providers. Housekeeping is nice but I wish the dietary department had a better practice with getting orders from the providers. That has been hard. Overall they are great and I wish my loved one wasn't declining so much because I don't think they will be able to stay much longer but I wish my loved one could.

The communication was terrible. We were not happy with the care or communication. They have updated the decor. The food was mediocore.
Friendly staff, affordable and smaller size community, various activities and outings, older facility but updates are decent, housekeeping/laundry service provided. I would recommend them to family and friends.

Nice space but did not seem as friendly, clean or caring. Wasn't the right environment for my family member.
The communication needs to be improved greatly, that right now is our biggest complaint. When it comes to the meals it says they are all chef inspired but they all taste process and the vegetables are cooked to mush. The activities are minimal and uninspiring, the community just does not have that happy and bright environment we were hoping for. They also are not licenses which is a big deal to us.

March 28, 2022Good morning, Anonymous, I appreciate this opportunity to address your concerns. Regarding communication: Our monthly resident council meetings are open to all residents to attend. As a reminder, the comment box is located in the first floor living room. Family communication emails are routinely sent out by our Executive Director as well as our monthly Constant Contact newsletter to all families. Please make sure we have your correct email so that you are receiving all the communications. The Executive Director's door is always open and he welcomes your comments in person. Dining: Our onsite chefs hand prepare a diverse meal menu and Chef Jerel and Chef Carla are always open to feedback. The Buon Appetitio Fine Dining monthly event, with live music, candles, white linens and special menu, has been a fabulous hit! Family meal visits, in our resident dining room, have recently reopened. You are now welcome to join us. Activities: We are excited that at Villa Palazzo we have TWO activities personnel for each building, allowing for even more activities and scheduling 7 days a week! Our programming is constantly growing and everyone is welcome to bring forth recommendations, for scheduled activities, or more activities that residents have formed themselves. Licensure: We have always been licensed and hold a Personal Care status. During the past year, since becoming Villa Palazzo, much time and money has been spent preparing for our upgrade to Assisted Living. This new level of licensure will be completed very soon! Come talk to Robert in person, he'll be happy to chat with you!
i toured this community and thought it was nice. it just boiled down to distance; we chose another community because it was closer to family.

February 22, 2022Hi Michael, Thank you for thinking of us for your review. It was a pleasure meeting and working with you. Give Ziggy a hug!
Good community, not the right fit for my loved one due to community regulations.

January 25, 2022Hi T.C. Thank you for taking time to tour and submit a review. I'm glad you had a positive experience and feel comfortable recommending us to your friends. Our COVID protocols are in place to maintain contact tracing for a healthy environment for our residents, staff and visitors. At this time, our guidelines are adjusted, and we can't wait to return to our pre-pandemic life!
New name is here but I'm not sure if their strategy to bring the establishment back is consistent with what used to make them great. We are well aware of the reasons for the name change without being told. This major reason in itself tells us that they have an obligation to addrress the staff shortage first and foremost. We are taking into consideration the "great resignation" we have witnessed in 2020 to present. We have to visit daily to fill in the gap (the law says there must be XX caregivers per resident). Great that they are upgrading electronic equipment, tv's, furniture, paint, flooring. However, there is a shortage. Stop focusing on electronic sign-in platforms and VET and hire. Pay shift differentials instead of trying to appease by making them lazier. We will be demanding an updated timeline of their strategy to turn this place around.

January 10, 2022Thank you for your feedback as we appreciate all reviews. You bring up several items that are important to us as well! We are aggressively recruiting and receiving applications and choose to hire the best, most caring and loving staff. The hiring process consists of background checks, state required fingerprinting, physicals, TB tests among other requirements. Thank you for noticing the upgrades which are to make the community feel more like the home the residents are accustomed to. We are excited to introduce the electronic sign-in platform which is an added feature for the safety of your loved one. Not only does this allow us to monitor who is in our community, but to contract trace for any Covid situation. Please feel free to contact Robert Howell, Executive Director. He’d be happy to talk with you!
We chose Village Palazzo because it was close to her doctors offices and also the value for the money. Her room size is average, it is plenty of space for what she needs. She does say that she doesn't get a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables and sometimes the food is cold when delivered, so that could some improvements. Overall we would recommend to others looking.

January 12, 2022Thank you for your feedback! We do have great value for our service and are continuing to make improvements and renovations. "Buon Appetitio" is our fine dining experience complete with candles, white table clothes, enhanced special menu and live music. Our residents constantly look forward to this event. Please continue to share your thoughts us. The suggestion box is located in the living room.
This facility is clean and nice.Just the workers are mean to the residence. They talk to them any kinda way. They just there for the money. They need to get away with the old workers and start fresh. it should be a way you dress and how your hair should look. Front Desk person need to look more professional and learn how to talk to people that enter the building.

January 12, 2022Hi Tiffany, Your concerns are ours too! We agree that it is important to have a professional & caring staff and atmosphere. You may have noticed that the selection of loving people dedicating their time to running the community and caring for our residents have replaced the previous staff from the past owners. Smiles are all around reflecting that our staff enjoy being here! Please come meet our Executive Director, Robert Howell, who has spearhead even more positive change since coming on board.
Good experience so far. Smaller community but rooms are a good size. It is also affordable so that is a plus.

January 12, 2022Hi Frances, Thanks for coming by! Our 3 story community boasts loads of common areas and space for our residents to relax and call home. Living rooms, lounge, Bistro, movie theater, fitness room, library and more! I hope you saw the beautiful outdoor garden with a fishpond. Come back and visit again!
staff is very nice but understaffed. food has gotten much better since the new company took over. As i don't need any of their medical services and such, I can't truly make any kind of judgement about that. But I do know many that do and they all appear to be happy with their care. There are a few negatives but not bad enough to really write about. This is my first assisted living facility so I also can't make any comparisons regarding other such entities.

It is a safe, quiet, convenient to get to from the North side of town. The administrative staff communication with the family has been good. They send emails out to me, are willing to speak in person or on the phone with me. The ownership just changed in the last 4-6 weeks.

Extremely poor customer service and bedside manners from the night shift staff in the second building at the Sandy Springs location. It’s as if they were hoping patients transitioned; no one expressed compassion or professionalism. Less than desirable verbiage was used in front of families and the comfort care sitters. Management may need to consider an employee evaluation practice or a method that’ll ensure hired and paid employees are at minimum, fulfilling each duty of the position applied for.

We are very happy with Sandy Springs Place. My dad does seem happy here. I think it is very nice facility, it is more like an apartment feel and not so much institutional feeling which is very nice. I would recommend to others who are looking.

My loved one loves this community. It is a smaller community. They answer questions in a timely manner. Personal care is important to the community

A Place for Mom has scored Villa Palazzo 7.7 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
