Experience at The Residence

I am very happy with the facility and the staff staff. They are very nice and friendly. I did find, on the day we moved my mom in, there was no one really there to give us any direction and we didn't really know what we should do. They assumed that we should know what to do, as we did not. But when we asked any questions, they were extremely helpful to give us answers to our questions. The young people that work in the dining room are extremely nice and friendly. But there seems to be a disconnect between them in the kitchen. We were told by [name removed] that if she just wanted soup, she could ask for soup. So, on the day she moved in, she ordered soup and they said they didn't have any soup. We were a little surprised that an Assisted Living community would not have soup, especially where their residents typically are much older and you know how much they love their soup. Basically, I would say communication has been the biggest hurdle. Now that my mom is understanding the system, it is easier. For example, they told us that when you did your own laundry, the detergent automatically went into the machine. But no one told us that we had to press a button to get the detergent into the machine. So her first couple of loads were washed with no detergent. I also went up a week or so ago as they had a holiday party. I thought it was quite nice. They have tons of activities for the residents, which I think is fabulous! Now that my mother is feeling much better after her short stay in a rehab, she is going to the exercise class. I am happy that she is there, as now she's making new connections versus being in her apartment before where she was pretty isolated. She is also making friends! As far as recommendations: I would say the dining room definitely needs more staff. And lots of times there is food on the floor left over from the night before. It should be cleaned better. I'm not blaming the young kids that are doing their best to work as wait staff. But, I don't feel whoever is in the kitchen is stepping it up.... Read more

Highly recommend

Facility is very tidy and located near several churches, drug stores. There is a bus that goes directly to Harvard Sq. Staff are very kind and speak to residents like adults. I would recommend The Residence at Watertown Square to others.

A nice community with room for improvement. It has good potential...just do a good diligence exploration to be sure.....

The place is just ok...needs strong leadership. Feels the mbs have taken too much control...with the budget, but not with operations. The recruiter oversells the place, especially in the area of food.. A nice community with room for improvement. It has good potential...just do a good diligence exploration to be sure it's the right place for you

The Residence at Watertown Square

We took a tour of The Residence at Watertown Square during our search for a Memory Care facility for our loved one. The cleanliness and friendliness were great. We REALLY liked this community! However, it was less convenient to get to for us.

good food and friendly staff

The Residence has good food and a friendly staff. they offer a variety of activities. although everyone may not participate in them, they are offered if you want to. my loved one isn't the kind of person who asks a lot of questions, so I do think they could improve on communication between staff and residents. they don't really tell them things, so my loved one often wouldn't know unless he asked.

a great community

The staff members and the meals and dining service get 5+ everything has been amazing. We are not super familiar with all the activities just yet but we are sure they are wonderful. One thing we really love about this community is that it does not feel like a nursing home, it feels like a nice hotel.

Response from The Residence at Watertown Square

March 7, 2022

We’re sorry that you have been frustrated with the process of transferring from the rehabilitation facility back to The Residence at Watertown Square, but happily that is now proceeding forward. Unfortunately, it is often a judgement call that can change day-to-day or hour-to-hour depending on the circumstances. We’re so happy to have you as a part of our family, and we’re very glad to welcome you back!

Outstanding community

My mother just passed after residing in Assisted Living at The Residence. Throughout her time there, she (and I) were impressed with the experience: the facility is spotless, the food is good, and there are lots of activities enjoyed by many. Most important to us was the spirit of the place. The staff is upbeat and fun, well trained, and they work hard. They clearly enjoy the residents, and are good to them and to each other. The management cares and is accountable --- they will engage with family and work to solve problems. We were so pleased with my mother's time at The Residence.

A building which shouldn’t be allowed to exist.

I cannot give this facility a rating. I speak from first hand experience, no measure are taken to correct issues. The degree of uncaring is overwhelming. I am planning to move my mother out as soon as possible.

The Residence at Watertown Square was a clean and up-kept community. I was received with friendly staff and a smart tour guide. The community unfortunately did not meet our needs but it was very nice. Nurse care and complimentary transportation was available. A Safe Haven for Those in Need

From the initial contact with your service and Watertown this difficult time was made immensely easier. The sales and promotion staff was thorough and exceptionally friendly. Options were spelled out in easy to understand detail so budgeting was facilitated and decisions were easier to make. But primarily, our mother has made a smooth transition to Watertown and enjoys the staff and services. They are professional and their advice has made us all understand our options and future course of action. Thanks for the expert advice and guidance. We'll recommend you to all who inquire.
