The Legacy of St. Anthony is an assisted living community located in the heart of the St. Anthony district of Minneapolis, Minnesota. This well wooded district of the city is heavily residential, distancing residents of the Legacy of St. Anthony from the hustle and bustle of the most populated urban area in Minnesota. Benefiting from a northern latitude and on the edges of lake effect weather from Lake Superior, residents enjoy mild summers that are ideal for outdoor activities even at high noon.
The Legacy of St. Anthony is a place where neighbors become friends. Our staff, amenities, and architecture all work together to provide opportunities for active seniors to create social relationships with each other and with our caregivers. Between on-site activities and the plethora of nearby shopping, restaurants, and more, our residents avail of hundreds of ways of enjoying socially active lifestyles.
At Legacy of St. Anthony, our amenities and services work in harmony to create the perfect assisted living community. The following are just some great examples:

his is a wonderful place. The apartment rooms, the staff, along with a great, great pricing. I feel so lucky to have found them for a family member. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Even my very difficult to please uncle has nothing but nice things to say about them.

After a few problems with services initially, things have gone very well since. It is a very nice place and my Mom is settling in very nicely. I would recommend to others.

I'd say they are responsive, have worked hard to get my mom settled in the community, have picked up on her passions (like a fairy garden) but have done so with supervision that keeps her from doing too much. I can't speak highly enough of the management team, who are known to become the cleaning crew if needed. Legacy is not just a job to them, it's a vocation. They struggle, like all Assisted Living facilities to recruit and hire good service staff, but we are really happy there, and believe this is her place for the rest of her life.. I'm happy to recommend Legacy.

To be honest, we were over a barrel. Mom was going downhill, and fast. We got very lucky finding The Legacy of St. Anthony. We were in a bind, and they were very helpful. It was overwhelming at first.

We have experienced: friendly people, friendly, caring staff. It is more a community than just a place to live. I would definitely recommend it to others looking for assisted living.

This seemed to be an excellent community overall during the tour. We are very pleased with the experience so far. There are three meals a day served and the residents have choices to choose from. The staff communication with the family and friends is very helpful and responsive to questions and requests.

The facility is clean and nice. They have activities going on, although not a lot that my loved one is interested in other than the music on Thursdays. He can be picky about food, especially about anything too spicy, but he really likes the breakfast. Everybody else I've talked to there raves about how good the food is. I like that they give other options if you don't like the main offering at each meal. The servers are friendly and respectful. We've had some hygiene issues, but part of that is my loved one's refusal, and there has been some turnover in staff. Otherwise, aside from wanting to be in his own place, he's happy as can be there. They provide the help he needs overall. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. They call the residents by name and speak with them. They know me by name and talk to me when I come in. And all the residents I see look happy.
Out of all of the places that our loved one had been in, we had the best experience here. The facility itself is not as pretty and does not have all of the bells and whistles like some others, but the care he got here was the best. The nurses and all of the staff were all so nice. I would recommend St. Anthony to others.
The Legacy of St. Anthony is essentially a shell. It provides good meals and comfortable shelter, but most other services are provided by outside organizations. The aides who do the daily work are capable. As far as sympathy and condolences at the end of our family member's life, those were provided solely by hospice, not by Legacy, and we found that absence painful.

We ae still learning about the community as we haven't been here very long. There is a lot of new people as there was a change of management recently. I overall like the community so far. They have one major activity each day. They have men's and women's groups, games, bingo, special presentation of food each month, field trips, and more as some of the activities available for the residents. The food is very good, a little high on the carbs offered. There is a main menu for the day, and then there is options to substitute out for other items offered. The apartment, utilities, transportation, activities, and meals are included in the monthly fee. The apartment has a full kitchen and a washer and dryer in the unit for independent living. You can add housekeeping and laundry service for an additional fee. They also have care levels that can be added for assisted living.

The main staff and the cafeteria staff all seem to be pretty nice people. They all know the residents by name. But the normal personal care attendants are a little iffy. I think some of the them aren't trained quite well enough. The building is nice and clean. There are some in-house activities that my loved one is enjoying. It's just the personal assistance needs some improvement.

Our family had an in person tour and we liked how they have a bus transportation system that gets to take residents out for the day. However the apartments are very small and this community almost looked more like a nursing home that is trying to become an assisted living home. It just felt a little too closed off.
I really liked The Legacy of St. Anthony. It was a beautiful facility, especially the entryway. That really stood out to me. They also gave me a pastry box that was fabulous.
Our family would like to thank you for your thoughtful, caring, and professional attention to our family member during their stay. Your team's cordial and attentive interactions with all have been extremely meaningful. The Legacy is a noteworthy example of managed care facilities; none better in our estimation. You can be very proud of your accomplishments. You will be long remembered for what you have done for our loved one.

We chose The Legacy because of the location, it was close to where she lived her whole life and is downtown and convenient to a lot of different places. We also liked the size of it, it is a smaller community. The apartment sizes are great, she is in a 2 bedroom. I would highly recommend them.

We chose The Legacy of St. Anthony because the value for what you get, the location, and she had a couple of friends who were already here. The room sizes here are very comfortable. She seems to like the food. I think it is a pretty nice facility, we looked at quite a few. They offer all the way to hospice, so you do not have to move your loved one even if they need more care. Overall, I would recommend.

I can't thank the nursing staff enough for keeping my mother in the best care possible. When talking with my mother she always says how nice and caring the attendants are with her. I myself am pleased with the contact I have had through phone conversations with nursing as well. Hats off to The Legacy nursing team for all you do! I can't thank you enough for all your hard work and dedication to all those under your roof.

Response from The Legacy of St. Anthony
September 23, 2020Thank you for being part of the Legacy family and allowing us to care for and love your mother.
I love being able to eat in the Ida Marie dining room. It's a bit different with the social distancing but, the Ida staff makes sure to make each dining experience a good one while still getting the job done. The food is great and love the summertime BBQ's.

Response from The Legacy of St. Anthony
September 23, 2020Ida Marie loves to serve you!
As a resident at The Legacy I'm pleased to say I couldn't ask for a better community to live in. During these difficult times, we have still been able to enjoy things while following the safety procedures put in place. It's been great getting to socially distance dine, have music played during meals by some of our favorite entertainers. Along with getting to see family and friends for socially distanced patio visits.

A Place for Mom has scored The Legacy of St. Anthony 9.3 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
