My loved one is currently a resident at Ivy Park at San Jose and everything has been great for her at this facility so far. She loves it! This facility was the best out of the 9 facilities that we toured in the area and it is way nicer/better and also cheaper. Ivy Park's tour was better prepared than the others and the studio apartment that they had available clinched it. When we sat down to discuss price, etc it was laid out very well and we just picked what we wanted/needed. No surprise fees.... Read more

Response from Ivy Park at San Jose
October 19, 2023Hello, Thank for you for taking the time to share your feedback. Your recommendation means so much to us.
Putting your loved one in assisted living is a really tough decision. But when it's in a place where the people genuinely care about the people they're serving, it makes it better. The caregivers at Ivy Park are lovely people. The meals are consistently good. They offer a lot of activities. It's expensive, but they do a lot for your loved one.

I toured this community and it was very quiet. I noticed that there wasn't a lot of interaction or even residents around or out and about. It was a clean facility, I just didn't get a good vibe here.
The staff is very caring and try to do the right thing for residents. The residents are very welcoming and friendly. However, they nickel and dime on services and don't live up to promises, e.g. we were told that cable was included in the rent, but after many weeks of trying to get the maintenance people to set up properly, we gave up and my dad ( a retired engineer) jerry-rigged a digital antenna so that they could get some television reception. The food is sub-par. They offer the same entrees at most meals. Quality of ingredients very poor , e.g. they use powdered eggs for scrambles. Offering of fruits and vegetables, especially in terms of variety, very limited. The grounds are well maintained, but location is isolating and shuttle use is very limited.

Response from Ivy Park at San Jose
August 26, 2022Hello! We really appreciate your positive review! Thank you!
I toured Ivy Park at San Jose and it was a nice place. It was the furthest away from my home, so that was a negative for me. There were a lot of things I thought were good about it; but there was a glitch - which may not have been their fault. I had an appointment and they weren't able to facilitate me for at least 30 minutes, although I had arrived on time. So that sort of turned me off. It looked like a nice place, especially if its close to your home.
Ivy Park is a perfect fit for my sister, who I put there. The staff is outstanding. The only problem I have is they seem to have some turnover, and right now it's affecting their activities - but they have told us there's a fix in place with a new activities director starting this month. There's a little bit of everything when the activities are there. The apartments are a good size. From what my sister tells me, the food is awesome. She also tells people how good of a place it is during their tour!

We really like the facility and the folks that work there. We had some trouble with follow-through, so it required us to stay on top of them to make sure that we got everything we needed in a timely manner. I like the variety of activities they offer, and you could see the encouragement of the staff for the residents to participate.

We have been very happy with Ivy Park. We were leery at first and looked at many places. They really worked with us and made us feel more comfortable. She is in the early stages of dementia and after they assessed her, they felt that she was not ready for memory care. They gave us a perfect room in the very front for her. For what we were paying based on other places we think it is a really good value especially for the quality of care she gets. From the moment we walked in, all of the residents and the staff have been really welcoming. My mother is absolutely thriving here. She is able to be social and make lots of friends and doing activities. We think this was the perfect fit for her and it is a fantastic facility.

Our experience could of been better, they were going from one management team to another. In brief if your loved one is fully functioning then assisted living is a nice place to be for a reasonable price. However if your loved one has any type of moderate care needs - such as mental health issues, they should immediately be placed in memory care. Our loved one was diagnosed with dementia and was placed in assisted living, because of that they did not get the adequate care needed and specific needs were not met. After speaking with the team, they apologized for their mistakes and admitted their faults which we appreciated.
My loved one does not participate in a lot of the activities but they do have things for the residents to do. However, my loved one is more interested in card games as to arts and crafts. Due to where I live it is a great location, great professionalism and friendly staff. It makes it all worth it and my father feels like this is his home. I would advise to give it a try.

December 11, 2021Dear Kathy, your recommendation means so much to us and we're so glad your father feels at home. Thank you again for taking the time to let others know about your positive experience. Have a great day!
They are understaffed, not organized and they don't have their stuff together after the company takeover. There is a lack of communication, and policies. The residents are having to ask for salt and pepper and other items that were readily available to them prior to the changeover.

I didn’t really care for this place, and neither did my loved one. In the memory care side, the room that they showed us was pretty filthy, with stained carpets. That surprised me. And I didn’t really meet any of the staff. They were trying to convince me to put my loved one in a shared room which, I didn’t want to do. I think it's because that’s all they had available at the time.

The lunch area is very nice, and they have a nice variety of food options. Due to the virus they are having to eat in their rooms. The staff is very friendly and we would recommend this community to a family or friend.

Our tour of Silver Creek was absolutely great. They offer everything you could need. It was a very nice and clean community. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. We chose another community because we wanted it to be closer to our family and the price was out of our range.
