We looked at other places and we chose The Hartwell because when we walked in it instantly resonated with my brother. They have had the same chef over 30 years and the staff have been there a long time. They pride themselves on the fact that the food is amazing. It is a smaller community with only 28 residents and they are very focused on them and it is strictly a memory care facility. It was clean and everyone was super friendly and welcoming. We never even had to hesitate, he is so happy here. They are keeping him engaged all the time. We would give staff more than a 5 if we could. I would highly recommend them to others looking. It is expensive, but you cannot put a price on the peace of mind.... Read more

My Tour Experience at Hartwell Place

Hartwell Place was too small, too dingy, too far from family, and there was no off street parking. Overall, I was not impressed with Hartwell Place.

Small facility

Overall everything is going fine at this facility. There are a few things that don’t get done when you request it however. This location is very convenient for me in being close to my house. My love one doesn’t necessarily require too much besides his personal care. The staff is very good in letting me know on how my love one is doing. If there was a fall they would call me up right away to update me. I’m actually having a meeting with them concerning about the changes with my love ones care. So I appreciate how they are very communicative. The facility is small and keeps it very easy. I absolutely recommend this facility to other people.

Tour Went Well Of This Community

I toured this community for my mother, and her needs. The experience went well. Everyone we met was kind, and friendly to my family, and I. The community looked nice, and the staff was friendly. My questions were answered. The experience was a pretty nice, but I did find a better match for my mother, and her needs.

Mother in Law In Good Hands

My mother is all settled into this community, and she is doing as well as can be expected. We do feel comfortable with the care she is receiving in this community. They have a good staff, and we know she is in good hands. They have been friendly, and also helpful when needed. When we come to visit the community is nice, and clean. Everything is working out well, and we are satisfied with this community. I would recommend it to my family, and friends.

The Hartwell: a supportive environment for memory support

My mother has lived at the Hartwell for less than two months, so we do not have a lot of experience with the residence. But we searched hard to find the best situation, and having looked at many places in the area, settled on The Hartwell, and felt fortunate to get a room. The staff are friendly, the activities seem to be well-organized and plentiful, my mother (once a wonderful cook) praises the food, and the facility itself is a pleasant building on a quiet residential street. Assisted living expenses are very high, and those at The Hartwell are no exception, but it is also much cheaper than other places we looked at - we are spending several thousand dollars less per month than we might have been. So far, our experience have been a very good one.

A Place for Mom has scored Hartwell Place 8 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
