The caregivers are amazing. Unfortunately there has been a lot of turnover causing daily staff shortages and cutting corners since the new owner took over a few months ago. Promises for improvements have not happened. With the reduced staff there are safety risks , accidents, and an overall lack of cleanliness. I've witnessed residents sliding out of their wheel chairs, fighting with each other and wandering around calling for help that didn't happen in the past. With only three staff members on duty in the common areas, everyone has to wait. Clothes with nametags disappear. Bathing is not happening twice a week as required. Door handles/chairs are sticky, urine stains/smell, brown stains smeared on patio floor, food smeared on chairs from apparent "spills" or where someone got sick which haven't been cleaned up for weeks. Previous ownership had staff working daily to clean and maintain sanitary/safe conditions for residents. Still waiting for conditions to improve.

Internal changes in staffing seemed to be causing issues. The response time to help me plan for future care was very slow. My mother fell there twice and I had to provide additional caregivers 24/7 for over the 6 weeks that the doctor ordered. I was not satisfied with the management so I removed my loved one and brought her back home. Based off of our experience, I would not recommend Grossmont Gardens for memory care.

We like the smaller scale of this community in comparison to other larger ones. We definitely love the staff team there - we have nothing but good things to say about them, no complaints at all. Every time we come to visit the residents and staff seem to be really happy and enjoying their time. Based on our experience we would absolutely recommend Plateau Village to other families.

We weren't completely informed about how they do their prescriptions with Ron's pharmacy was . We had some issues with that pharmacy trying to get his medication. The few days he was here he was not getting the medications that he needed. The pharmacy needed a doctors note and we were not told that. They need to be more forthcoming with that information for new residents before they move in so they do not have the same issue.

November 2, 2022We are very sorry to hear that you had a negative experience with us. The biggest issue that I had was that they lost all of my mothers clothing. They were all clearly marked and they lost full sets of sheets and literally all of her clothes. She came with a large suitcase full of clothes and left with a little bag. They could never explain to me where they went. I even told them I wanted to wash the clothes but they took them anyways. They never changed her sheets once while she was here. I could not get a hold of management. Once the paperwork was signed, they will not speak to you. You can only speak to the floor staff which was very concerning. Medications was an issue as well. They were not giving it to her like they should have., When I took her out, she had many more pills that she should have. The regular staff are wonderful. Very friendly and as helpful as they can possibly be. They made an exception for my mom to bring her little dog while she was here and I did really appreciate that.

My daughter is an activity Director in Washington and I knew what to look for. I am very grateful for all the caretakers there. They’re very loving and treat each person personally. They bring out their personality and characteristics and everything they do. My sister seems very calm and very happy there and I am always invited to all the events and try to stay up on the alzeimers seminars. Love the food here and especially love the activity Director [name removed]. She is an amazing woman and gives a lot of her tell us to everything

My loved one, is no longer at the community. They did not have enough staff. They could not provide the level of care, that was needed for my loved one. They seemed to provide, better care for those in memory care. The food was sometimes good, and other times it was not good. They need to do a better job, of evaluating the residents better.

They have a good closer that moves you in, but after that, you'll have to read the small print to find out what exactly you've signed. You're signing 40 pages, so you gloss over things assuming that it'll all be on the up and up, but it's pretty much all in their favor. I assumed there would be more communication, so I'd know what's going on with my loved one. I don't know if they have a program like other places, where you can log in and see what your loved one is up to. I always had to hunt down someone and it was never the same person as the day before. That might just be the nature of these communities as my loved one is at a new place, but we're still having the same issue with communication. You have to work too hard to find out what's going on. Sometimes you do get an answer, but most times you're struggling.

We toured at Plateau Village Memory Care and found nothing wrong. We just didn’t click with the staff as much as we did at another place.

It's pretty much what we expected it would be. When we were first touring different facilities, Plateau Village stood out as a little bit smaller than some of the others. They're a little more hands-on because they don't have as many residents to keep track of and help. Because it's a memory care unit, sometimes clothing and things gets mixed up, which is frustrating. But when I come to the staff with questions or concerns, they're always helpful. Plateau Village also seemed to be the best bang for the buck - they were the lowest price of the three places we toured.

The initial reason that we went with Plateau Village at the time because of the experience we had with the director, but unfortunately that person did not stay. They transitioned/were taken over in January and the communication has not been as good as it was in the beginning. The staff who are working with the residents daily really do care about them and that is what matters the most. We would recommend them to others.

The staff members are great, they are very nice people. Our loved one always seemed to enjoy the meals, and the chef even did individual meal plans for the new residents. When it came to the activities they were limited due to covid, but they did have small group circles and we could tell they had good efforts and intentions.

Don't send your family member there. They are understaffed, housekeeping loses everything, I have talked to the manager and he is no help. If it hadn't been for the receptionist, I would have never known my husband with ill. He passed away from the COVID virus. Their communication with me was zero. He hadn't been eating , drinking, or taking his medications for two weeks before he was hospitalized and nobody contacting me and told me. I had gone into the common areas and their were no staff with the residents and I would have to hunt them down to get help. The $2000 deposit was never returned as promised.

My father has been at Elmcroft for approximately a year and a half. He is mobile but suffers from dementia I have recently moved out of state which has limited my visits to him. It is comforting to know that Elmcroft’ staff (from housekeeping to director ) are there to give me assistance whenever it is needed. They are my eyes and ears in my absence and always respond to my calls or text concerning my father. I could not have made my out-of-state move as easily have the care not been top quality. For memory care, this place is great!

My mother has been at Elmcroft of LaMesa over a year now. The staff is very caring and compassionate with the residents as well as their families . They have a lot of activities and special events which the residents seem to really enjoy. The only downfall is the staff turnover... a lot of people come and go and sometimes there doesn’t seem to be enough hands on staff to deal with all the residents who need assistance.

Turnover seems very high. When I notice an exceptional caregiver, I don't see them there very long. The facility in general is kept pretty clean. The care of the residents could stand some improvement, especially in the area of personal grooming assistance. Care of the resident's clothing is lacking. For the price they charge, better care should be taken when laundering clothes. Clothing seems like it's all washed together in high temperature, so items are quickly worn and ruined.
