Not A Good Fit For My Husband

We had a very brief experience with Foothill Retirement. My husband was only there for two days. I was a little bit upset that even though the director came out to evaluate my husband and accepted him for care in their memory care community, it turned out that it was not a good fit. My husband went downhill as soon as he went into the facility. The staff were mostly women and weren't able to assist him in getting up from the floor. It seemed like that scenario was an entirely new experience for them, which is strange considering the setting (senior care, dementia care.) They called 911 to help him up off the floor, and they even wanted him to be transferred to the ER, even though he had not fallen - he was simply crawling on the floor. There were other male residents at Foothill and not just women, which was one of the things that attracted me there. The place was nice. It was clean. But they just couldn't take care of my husband.

tour of Foothill Retirement

we toured Foothill and upon first impression it was terrible. the first thing we were told was, "your loved one is going to fall, there will be incidents were she'll be hurt, so expect to receive calls in the middle of the night". this was very upsetting to hear; we left as soon as possible.

A great and caring facility

My sister in law is raving about the food, she said they are chef prepared meals and they are on the verge of gourmet. I noticed on their Facebook page when people have birthday's they go all out for them. They also post pictures of the activities that they are doing and are just very transparent. They are also adhering to all of the covid restrictions. It seems they are responsive to individual needs. I would definitely recommend them to others looking. All of the staff are very warm and caring.

Prices Were Good, But Frustrated With The Staff

I didn't care working with both of the head nurses and the policies they had in place. The other aides were fine to work with. The community stated they had the staff to care for my loved one with their medical conditions. I didn't feel the care was adequate for my loved one. The prices are reasonable here. My experiences were during the pandemic.

Nice facility and staff but food quality needs improvements

The staff that regularly takes care of our loved ones varies, some are good and some are not. The daily staff would get a three out of five, the administration and head nurse would get a four out of five. Relative to the food, our loved ones just do not like it. When we were able to visit prior to covid we spoke with other residents in the dining hall and they also said they do not like the food. The recently had some staffing changes which caused the food quality to go down even more. Now we have chosen to have food delivered to our loved ones everyday. However, we would still recommend this community.

Some Staff are Very Good

The residents are friendly. Some of the care workers are friendly and some are sticks in the mud. There are some staff that aren't as attentive to residents, as others. Some of the staff just sit and play on their cell phone instead of caring for the residents.

A nice community

i think it is a nice place in a nice setting, but the communication has been difficult. He really likes the food. He likes his apartment and he loves the animals that live in the community, they haves cats and birds. We chose this community the care is god, it is smaller, and looks like a home in the community. The caregivers are really nice , very attentive, and keep him clean.

This is a beautiful property in the hills of Tujunga. It is cheery, clean and bright and very well managed. The residents were mostly quite lively and engaged in various activities that had been arranged for them. Even the adjacent building that housed the residents suffering from dementia and Alzheimers was nicely appointed and very secure. The staff regularly brings the memory care residents over to the main building so they can partake in activities, games and concerts. Very nice, although pricey at 6000. per month.

There was a waiting list

This community would have been my first choice, the staff did a great job with my tour, they took their time showing me around and answering all my questions and I felt that this would have been a good fit for my uncle. But there was a waiting list. I would recommend you do a tour of this community.

My husband has been here for several months. I am very impressed with many things. The caregivers are positive, compassionate, helpful. Management people are totally competent and professional. Food is well planned, nutritious, and presented nicely. Recreational activities look like fun and they are frequent. The facility is always clean and smells good! I have NO complaints.
