I would give the sales team and front facing staff a 5. They are excellent and really want to find solutions and help. The nursing team gets a 3. I find that the nursing team cares for their residents quite a bit but they are unorganized and don't always know how to message well to family members. It can feel like they aren't all on the same page and aren't closing the circle on what's happening with a resident - and the way they message the info isn't always the best. There also seems to be a mentality of "my boss said" instead of true ownership in decision making. The peace of mind is priceless, but overall, memory care is outrageously expensive.... Read more

Response from Evans Park At Newton Corner
December 18, 2023Hello, Thank you so much for the wonderful review. We are so glad to hear about your experience with our community. Our dedicated associates take great pride in providing the very best experience possible and your compliments are a highlight for our team. Thank you for sharing, and thank you for choosing Evans Park at Newton Corner!
I toured this facility and it was okay, friendliness was good.
Within the last month, there has been a huge turnover in staff, with upper management. There has been a lot of inconviences, due to renovation taking place. There needs to be better commnucation with the residents, with any changes going on with the renovation process. Someone needs to be more sensitive, to the needs of the residents. I am really hoping that the renovation process is nice, and the staffing issue gets resolved. The current staff is friendly and hardworking.

Response from Evans Park At Newton Corner
March 2, 2023We are sorry you did not have a positive experience at our community. We take feedback very seriously and have forwarded this to leadership.
We toured with Evans Park at Newton Corner and I really liked this facility. This was actually our first choice and I wanted to place my loved one here, but they told us no and that they could not handle the type of care my loved one needed.
We looked at a number of places for our mother when we felt she was no longer safe living on her own. The senior staff at Evans Park truly stood out as being helpful and genuinely caring. When we toured the facility with and without our mother the staff seemed to know all the residents and to have real relationships with many of them. The residents we met seemed very happy and were welcoming of our mother. The staff was entirely focused on what was best for our mother. Though we ultimately selected a place that was practically next door to my brother's house, my brother, sister and I were enormously impressed by all our interactions with staff at Evans Park, which is why I have gone to the extra effort of writing a review. We would have been very happy to have had our mother there if it weren't quite so far away.

Regarding the staff, most of them were wonderful but sometimes, it was not always easy to get in touch with everyone. My loved one is happy there. They have had a bit of turnover with the staff. I would suggest, to go in prepared to do more, than they what intially tell you.

The feeling of community started way before my physical visit to Evans Park. It started with my first conversation with [name removed]. There was an overall feeling of caring about the residents and the quality of life they would provide. Next came the tour. Upon entering there was an immediate feeling of being welcome and being home. I could picture my dad being happy in this community. They stress safety, cleanliness and socialization. The facility is immaculate. There are numerous places along the hallways to sit down for a brief rest on their way somewhere else. There are multiple alcoves decorated like warm comfortable rooms for quiet contemplation or getting together with new friends for a chat. A fully equipped PT fitness center is on site and available for residents use. An All Day Dining menu as well as daily lunch and dinner specials is a huge plus. Everywhere I looked there people engaged in activities. Finish all of that with a highly qualified and welcoming staff. . A++

The people are very nice. Some of the aides are very nice, and some are very rough. The private aides called one of the aides in the community to assist with moving my loved one up, and the aid at the community couldn't assist due to an injury. They did laundry; however, they didn't do it well. The director and administrative staff were excellent. The apartment my loved one had was great. The community offers a lot. If your loved one is more active this would be perfect for them. If your loved one is hard of hearing, or hard of understanding of accents it might make it harder for the resident to understand the staff.

The community is beautiful, it is very vibrant with giant and spacious apartments. The staff are amazing and really work hard for the residents. The care services are excellent and we like how they offer more intellectual activities to the residents. Based on our experience so far with Evans Park we would recommend this community to other families.

We chose Evans Park because it just seemed homier and it did not smell at all. The food is sometimes a mixed bag, but it is not horrible by any means. The room my mom has is beautiful and spacious. She has a little kitchenette as well. They painted it the colors she wanted and put in new flooring before she moved in. [name removed] does not say no to anything, it is always a yes. I would absolutely recommend to others looking.

I want to just say that this Assisted Living facility and it's staff are phenomenal. From the front desk to the Executive Director, my parents and family have been treated with the utmost respect and heartfelt care. Before my parents moved in Evans Park even spent time with me and my brother to learn more about our parents: where they were born, how they grew up, how they spent their lives, what their likes and dislikes are and much more. Best of all, each staff person then uses this information to relate to our parents in a caring and personalized way. It is as if they are now a part of an extended family of caring friends. My parents are thriving like never before.

It has been a big roller coaster for us for the past year here to get things straightened out and for our loved one to receive the adequate care. I would tell others not to do it unless you have a lot of time to watch them like a hawk, you have to be on on top of everything and be an advocate. They do also have a very high staff turnover rate. I would recommend as long as your loved one can be self sufficient, but for someone for instance with Alzheimer's who cannot do that I would not recommend.

Response from Evans Park At Newton Corner
May 4, 2021Hello, thanks for your review, we are sorry to hear about your experience with our community. We take all feedback seriously and strive to be better, and would like to learn more so that we can improve. Can you please reach out to us so that we can address your concerns? Thanks
Horrible. Loved one has been there for a year. Staff doesn't care about residents; they are not attentive, do not try to engage residents beyond giving them their meds. They have zero patience but they make up for that with their attitudes. It's like they're doing us a favor by giving meds to him. Um, we pay $8500/month to be there, that's the least you can do. The aides can be downright mean. It's awful. Who treats elderly people this way? A lot of the staff are not native English speakers and choose to speak another language with each other in the public areas of Evans Park. It's unsettling for those of us who are young and there visiting. But for elderly people, for people with memory loss, it's just not OK. There are no nurses there regularly, no one over night to give even Tylenol. The residents fight amongst themselves and say who can and cannot sit at certain tables in the dining room (which really isn't big enough anyway). The food isn't very good, either. Upside: they bring musicians in regularly, so that's nice.

My Father moved into Evans Park in October 2019. The staff was very helpful in getting him acclimated to life at EP. My father enjoys the daily exercise class, music presentations, food and the other residents also the "Happy Hour" every Fri, Sat and Sun. This has been a game changer for my father as he is no longer isolated in his house but has made many new friends. We couldn't be happier with our choice of EP.

We had a love one here for a few years we adored the last manger he was very hands on and knew everyone the activity were amazing and she adored them But the staff did not want to care for pepole who needed a lot ofAssistance She was know to be a fall risk she had fallen and been to the hospital 5 times in the last mouth Many times the hospital didn’t even know why she was there We saw staff often on cell phones The last fall did her in so much she could not Return But we wonder did that fall need to happen since she was a know fall risk The first thing The new manager Did was move her self to the back of the Building so she did not have to deal with the Residence and hire mult Levels of management My understanding is she’s left and I hope things got better but Please my love on this now there ate a few others from evens park When we told the staff how much we paid they seem surprised as they certainly were not paid any more to deal with our love for one at the higher level And resented her so much that another resident told us that they weren’t very nice to her
