There are many positives at Dunwoody Place for my mom. Because mom needs more attention than average residents here I wish the care was more proactive.

January 18, 2024Tomica, thank you for your kind review! We are grateful for A Place For Mom's partnership, allowing us to serve and honor more seniors in the Atlanta area. Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you and your family.
Staff are wonderful & caring. Facility is clean. They could do a better job easing new residents & family in. Very little orientation & old people don't just jump in & GO! I would DEFINITELY recommend! In the long run, the care for residents is MORE important than the lavk of orientation & hand-holding at the beginning, a few more activities would be nice! This is our third experience with Assisted Living. They get a A-!! Emphasized the warm care by staff

December 13, 2023Thank you so much for sharing your experience with Dunwoody Place. We sincerely appreciate your feedback and are thrilled to know that our dedicated staff has made a positive impact on your experience. At Dunwoody Place, we strive to create a warm, caring community where every resident feels valued and nurtured. It's heartening to hear that you've noticed the love and dedication our team pours into their work every day. We understand the importance of easing new residents and their families into our community. We acknowledge your feedback about our orientation process and are committed to improving this aspect of our resident experience. Change can be challenging, especially for our older residents, and we aim to make this transition as smooth as possible. While the initial orientation is important, we believe that the ongoing care and support our residents receive truly define their experience at Dunwoody Place. You've highlighted this in your review, and we couldn't agree more. The well-being of our residents is our top priority, and we're always looking for ways to enhance their experience. Your suggestion for additional activities is noted, and we're excited about incorporating more varied events into our lifestyle program. We want every day at Dunwoody Place to be filled with joy, engagement, and fulfillment. We're honored that you would recommend Dunwoody Place. Your A- grade motivates us to work harder and continue improving. We're grateful for your trust in us and look forward to continuing to serve you and your loved ones in our community.
My mother, at 102 years old, had a difficult transition. In her short time at Dunwoody Place, she was aware of the groups that had formed and was fortunate to find an Asian couple that accepted her, but otherwise felt isolated. The staff were supportive of her when she made her needs known. They were kind and supportive of her and me when I was helping her when she went on hospice during her final days of life. The staff was willing to forgive the extra weeks of money that was due by contract after she died, which I appreciated. My mother did not live to collect her free month of care that was part of the signing bonus. Because of her age, activities were nothing that she wished to engage in. Part of the time she was there, the movies were not working and the other times required an expertise with technology that she was not capable of. The personal care model that Dunwoody offered worked well for her. She could get the care that she needed and did not have to pay the huge fees for care that she did not need that were being levied at other senior care centers. Most importantly, my mother was treated with dignity and respect for her capabilities and her needs.

November 10, 2023Hello, Denise — our team deeply appreciates your feedback and the insights you've shared regarding your mother's time at Dunwoody Place. We are committed to providing the best possible care and support, and we're glad to hear that she found companionship here. We also understand the challenges related to activities and technical difficulties, continuously striving to enhance the experience for all residents. If you would like to share more information with us, please reach out to Erica C., Wellness Director, at eclement@pegasusseniorliving.com. Thank you for being a part of our community, and please accept our heartfelt condolences for your loss.
Overall, Dunwody Place is a good facility. They have a good physical therapy group that comes on site. The staff at Dunwoody place are friendly and helpful. I do think that the meals could be improved. If a person does not want the meal they have the option to order hamburger, hotdog, grilled cheese etc. I have been informed that sometimes it is difficult to execute the other options. Could be they are understaffed?

We loved this community. It was light and fresh. It was lots going on. It was so much positive energy. It was a further distance, and a larger community.

January 27, 2023Thank you for taking the time to leave such a wonderful review! Please let us know if there are any questions you have during your senior housing search.
We toured with Dunwoody Place and did not feel they sold the facility very well. They did not offer 3 meals a day, 5 days a week which is something we wanted. They also did not offer free gym memberships like some others did. It did not fit our needs because of the lack of amenities offered.

October 19, 2022Thank you for your review about our community. We take all feedback into consideration and appreciate your thoughts.
We chose Dunwoody Place because everyone was so friendly when whose took the tour. The staff, the residents, everyone was just great. She has made friends starting from day 1. She is not a big activities person but if they provided Mahjong she would definitely play. The staff are very decided to the residents. She is satisfied and I am happy with the experience. I would recommend them to others looking.

May 2, 2022Jenny, thank you for your kind words about our community. It is an honor to serve your loved one here at Dunwoody Place!
Our family had an in person tour and we loved it, 5 stars across the board. The community is open, airy, and the people looked so happy. The apartments overlooked a beautiful courtyard. The amenities were great and they even served us lunch which the food was so good. However the community was just a tad to big for our loved one and the sales manager was just a little to pushy.

I liked the community; however, it wasn't the right fit for my loved one due to community regulations.

I've been completely surprised at how wonderful it is here. The director is absolutely amazing [date removed]. He was born for this job. He knows everyone's name and checks on everyone daily. He appears to have good relationship with the rest of the staff - no tension there. Everything is top notch. They have activities all the time. My loved one has a better social life than my husband and I do. They treat the residents so well here. We were worried about moving our loved one, but she is so happy and has just blossomed here.

We chose this community because of the friendliness of the staff, they spoke to every resident we walked passed on our tour. The other reason was the dining room selections, they have specials and it is an actual book menu where residents get to make choices. Even post COVID, they are still able to make choices the night before, and then it is just brought to their room. It also smelled clean when we walked in the door. They had sufficient parking for the visitors as well. The room sizes are good.

September 11, 2020Karen, thank you for your review! We treat our residents like family - we're so glad you were able to observe that on your tour! Our dinning director takes pride in their culinary creations for our residents.
Not Sure yet. My mother has been there two months. She has reported at least 4 times going to activities that were listed on the calendar and sitting there and nobody showing up, and then asking at the front desk and being told by staff they'd 'go find out' and then the staff never returned to tell her. Also reports understaffing, no staff to serve meals so the front manager had to come to the dining room to help serve. Salads served with wilted dead lettuce. We are paying for bathing service and my mother reports they have not been coming to assist her as they are supposed to so she has not been bathing, or she has been going in to do it herself which she should not do. Since that old lady died of scabies in the other Georgia home and the state did not investigate that home as they were supposed to, I'm very nervous about any failings such as the above as it shows they are not on the ball, and then I have to worry how not on the ball are they. I put good for the activities because when they happen they are great. My mother loves the musicians that come in. She's enjoyed the befit classes. She has made friends and met some really interesting and good and sweet people, so all these things are a relief to me. But the other stuff needs to be improved for me to feel my mother is safe. I just spent 20 minutes on the phone with her waiting for someone to come after she'd buzzed for someone to find out if they could help her with a bath (they were supposed to assist her yesterday and no one ever showed up.) and this time, no one ever showed up to her buzzing. So she had to go try to bathe herself. The fact the above things go on though shows a lack of respect to the elderly. If they think they won't report it to their families? Will we not find out they are not bathing our mother? We will not be there to witness them giving my mother a plate of salad that is dead and wilted and black?

Not intersted in independent to assisted living facility at this time. Also, not interested in all inclusive: 3 meals, laundry, housekeeping. Too expensive for my budget. 1 Bedroom very small and not enough natural light. 2 Bedroom better but too expensive.

My wife has recently made the move into this community and so far she has been satisfied with how things have been going for her. She has made the transition easily and has made some friends since she moved in with the other residents. One of her complaints would have to be that the meals need improvements. They can not seem to ever get her order right and have had complications with the quality of the food. I also am disappointed that some how the staff have managed to break three of her hearing aids that she needs.

Run, do not walk away from this community. Completely lacking in leadership, management that is here lies constantly. Staff is resigning and there is no Executive Director. Under staffing is problematic. [Removed] is rampant. [Removed] is the norm. Stay away.

Stay away from Brookdale Dunwoody! As of March 1 there has been no improvement in the food and yesterday it took 40 minutes for my parent to be served a dinner entree. At dinner they always run out of soup and desert. There is no security being taken to protect residents. Front door is open at night and there is no one at desk or in lobby. Since Christmas many residents have left because of the non caring attitude of management.

A Place for Mom has scored Dunwoody Place 9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
