My mom has a roommate which makes this facility affordable. Everything she needs is right at her fingertip. She would like to see more activities after 3pm on most days there isn't anything for her to do. Overall she is pretty content she is 93 years old and is getting her independence back.

I moved my mother into Delmar Gardens of Smyrna in December 2022. The facility is well-designed and kept up. It is located near downtown Smyrna. So, there are all sorts of restaurants, grocery stores and pharmacies nearby. Which, can be accessed by Delmar’s shuttle service. The staff is very helpful and very friendly. Delmar has its own rehab facility and has various à la cart services on offer as needed. Their pricing is competitive and the value is amazing. Mom is settling in nicely and enjoying her community there. Love these people.

We toured Delmar Gardens of Smyrna during our search for care for our loved one. The staff at this facility was very friendly. They had lots of outdoor areas for the residents. The facility is bright and airy and the rooms had balconies.
Our family had an in person tour and it was a nice tour experience but the location and price was just a little to high and a little to far away
I toured this facility and it is beautiful, but not the best fit for us. The rooms were further away from the dining than I was looking for. It's a large facility and I felt like it would have been too overwhelming for our mom, personally. Also, only one meal was included in the basic monthly rent. I was impressed with the facility, but it was out of our budget. I would recommend it as an option to others, though.
Delmar Gardents has been a wonderful experience so far, the staff members have been wonderful and they are always happy to see us when we come to visit. They have daily activities going on for the residents and they keep all the predictable activities going so you can plan out your day and not miss anything.
The staff members were very friendly, and even though our loved one did not really participate in the activities they offered a lot for the residents. However, with the room we chose which was a studio the wheelchair and walker accessibility was really poor. Our loved one really struggled to get in and out of the bathroom with her walker.

Moving my 92 year old mother from her friends and her home for 60 years was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. But the staff and residents at Delmar Gardens have made the transition so much easier for us. From the moment I walked in the door I knew this was the Assisted Living Facility for her. The big pink and purple flowers on the carpet, the cool light fixtures, the neon green and fuchsia furniture, and the pastel walls make the place look more like a trendy resort than a senior living facility. There is a “happy” feeling when you walk in the door. My mother has done so well and I’m so thankful for the caring staff that gives her so much attention and provides so much to make her lifestyle comfortable and enjoyable.

My mother was here for almost 5 years. She was strong willed and not senile. They proceeded to heavily drug her so she would not be such a bother. She went from doing activities, going to the salon and getting her nails done and dressing nicely to practically a zombie in her bed. They left her alone and never changed her regularly. She developed a horrid, huge open bed sore. They could have cared less. Made me take her for treatment and I could not physically aid my mother in and out of the car. Thankfully, coming and going nice strangers came up and immediately assisted me. I found out this was not proper protocol. Going forward they had an ambulance service take us. They didn't even realize my mother couldn't stand alone anymore due to the seriousness of her wound. I put my trust in this facility to take care of my mother as I was single, working many hours with no assistance whatsoever from my 4 siblings. Relatives should not have to be on constant high alert about the lack of care in a place that is for the purpose of CARING for the elderly. I spent many, many hours there and nobody would check on her. And forget turning. I ran my legs off every visit trying to get proper attention for her. Had I not been in the middle of a divorce I would have hired an attorney and sued. Myself and a sister filed complaints with the state to no avail. You have to sue them. I moved her to Canton nursing home which was no better. Unpleasant staff, rough staff. We walked in unannounced one evening and my mother had a huge, red goose egg on her forehead and a major grimace still on her face. My ex stated "this just happened." An orderly showed up and looked like he'd seen a ghost when he realized we were there. No one knew what happened! Yeah, right. I believe she was left alone in a chair and fell out. My brother was in assisted living for many years. High functioning. Took care of himself. Next thing we know he's gravely ill. Seems they let him lay in bed without concern until it became apparent FINALLY that he was gravely ill. He was hospitalized for several months and never recovered from the severe neglect he suffered. To sum it up...I HATE nursing homes. None I've experienced are good. Too many peeps who dont want to work there and it shows. Along with over drugging and neglect they are hell holes. I watched my mother and brother take their last breath after being so horribly mistreated in these so called caring facilities.

Response from Delmar Gardens of Smyrna
December 17, 2019Good afternoon, We are very concerned about your comments regarding the care of your loved one. We take the care of our residents very seriously. In addition, we choose the same for the families of our residents. We would like to talk with you about this experience. Would you please contact Dawn St. Fleur at Delmar Gardens of Smyrna,[removed]. This site will likely remove the number, so please find us at www.delmargardens.com. We look forward to speaking with you. Sincerely, the Delmar Gardens Family.
I've been putting off writing this review because of grieving my aunts passing. I finally decided I can not put this off any longer. My aunt passed away in February of this year (2019). If I could give Delmar Gardens no stars I would. My aunt was 97 when she passed and was so lively and fragile at the same time. She had fallen at her assisted living facility in December and broke her collar bone and also had a small TIA. She was rushed to the hospital and stayed there about 5 days and recovered from her tia but she needed physical therapy and watched over more intently because she was a fall patient hazard. She was there for a couple of days and was very talkative and her rehab. was going very well. One day I came to visit her and she was comatose laying on her bed. She wouldn't wake up and I knew she was having a stroke. The nurses were very close to her room because the nurses station was there. I immediately came to them and told them what was going on. They didn't believe me and one physical therapist said to me to stop overreacting!! The doctor came in and stated that she had a stroke and wondered how long she was laying in bed. She immediately was taken to the hospital. She did in fact have a major stroke and stayed in the hospital for a few days. She really wasn't coming out of her stroke. Her speech was slow and she couldn't walk. I really didn't want to go back to Delmar. But I was talked into it because her belongings were there and they still had a bed for her. As each day passed at Delmar, she grew weaker and wouldn't eat. Everytime I came to the nurses station for help, they acted like they didn't know who she was. When she soiled herself, we would tell them and it would be 30 minutes or so before they came. I visited her every day and I noticed that noone was really looking out for her. I could not stay there 24/7 and we were paying a hefty room rate for them to be with her and comfort her when we couldn't. Granted this was around Christmas time. On January 3rd, the management came to us and said that she needed to go into Hospice. She was in hospice for about 6 weeks until she passed. I was pretty happy with the hospice staff that was contracted thru Delmar. But the Delmar staff were still very rude and not caring for my aunt. They still acted like they didn't know her. When she did pass, it was heart wrenching for me!! I loved her so much and took care of her during her healthy days. After we met with the funeral director the next day, we went to her room to gather her personal belongings. When we got there her room was completely made up and her stuff was gone. I went to the director and asked where they were and she didn't know. She said she would look for them. I finally got a call from the director 3 weeks later and she said that they were in a closet in another room! Not anyone from that Delmar staff said that they were sorry for our loss. No calls, letters......nothing from them. I will regret it for the rest of my life that we had my aunt stay in that Delmar environment!! If my aunt was aware of the terrible service, we would have made other plans. I miss her every day and she did live a full life. The only regret is keeping her at Delmar Gardens!

Response from Delmar Gardens of Smyrna
July 2, 2019We would like to again express our deepest sympathy for your loss. Thanks for taking a moment to write about your loved one’s time with us. We do remember your Aunt and family and how very close you were to her. Staff members pride themselves on giving great care and are complimented daily from families and residents. Therefore, our team takes these comments very seriously and have conducted interviews with your Aunt’s caregivers. It’s important that we talk with you about our findings. Please kindly call Kaline at Delmar Gardens of Smyrna, [removed].
My parents lived at Delmar for two and a half years and during this time, the staff worked tirelessly to give them the best quality of life possible. The management and staff worked in conjunction with our family to provide the love and support we needed during this difficult time. Two years later, we needed a place for another family member. Once again, we leaned on Delmar and they are now providing us the same care and personal care. We are grateful for everyone at Delmar for the attention and concern shown to not only our family, but all the residents and families there.

December 6, 2018Thank you so much for sharing your experience! It is our privilege and honor to care for Mom and to ensure she is happy. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make her stay more enjoyable. Best wishes, your Delmar Gardens Family
I was very disappointed with every aspect of Delmar Gardens. CNA's were not very attentive with health care of patients. Very knowledgeable and uncaring. Sometimes we did not even know who the CNA on staff for the day was even though they were suppose to be checking in during their shift. Poor leadership and management. No one worked together as a "team" to help oversee patient's care. Would NOT recommend this facility to anyone. Totally disorganized and uncaring.

This is such a wonderful place! [Removed] was so patient knowledgeable and really caring. I owe her all the credit for helping our family get on one page taking our calls at night and on her days off. We looked at plenty places and Delmar takes the cake.

My mother spent four years at Delmar in the recent past. Every year the quality of care diminished. Her last few months before she died, they SAID she fell from the bed and broke some bones but truth is she couldn't roll over to fall. The nurse said to me, "maybe she'll stay put now". A CNA told me she was mad at other CNA personnel because of what they had done to her. RUN AWAY. What you see is not what you get. You get nothing!!!

This was the best. Great location, great environment and residents seemed very happy. Difficult to get in touch with Shaunda and I left numerous calls that were not returned. Bathrooms are small and angular - not wheelchair friendly. There are no walk-in showers, although some tubs have tiny cutouts but still have a tall lip to step/trip over. Plush carpets are difficult to work with in a wheelchair.
