Common to almost all facilities these days, they are under staffed, so they hire temporary workers who are ill trained and ill prepared for this kind of work. This is not specific to this organization. We have seen this across the board. The regular full time staff here is terrific and very caring folks but the others drag their score down. Basically, this is a good place.

The staff at the independent living building at Cantata are very supportive. The atmosphere feels like a family. Several residents have lived here several years which highlights the excellence of the staff. I also enjoy having a great Gourmet meal every day!

Lots of planned activities to participate in daily and could find people to join in a friendly card game. Clean and spacious apartments. My brother enjoyed his assisted living apartment. Lots of choices at meal times.

Us kids watched mom struggle in our large family home. Encouraged independent senior living. After she reluctantly toured many facilities, we helped her move into the Cantata. Cantata, where she felt most comfortable. The staff and residents have been wonderful. They are helpful caring and welcoming not only to my mom but to me. Could not have asked for a better transition. Mom is now thriving, eating well, exercising, and enjoying many of the Cantata’s social activities. I am so thankful!

My Mom seems happy at Cantata. She enjoys the meals, eating with other residents. She likes talking about the White Sox with some of the staff. She is comfortable with them. I could see that when I visited her. They seem happy to help. Mom has challenges.

August 9, 2023Dear John, Thank you so much for letting us know your Mom is feeling comfortable and happy here at Cantata! She adds A LOT to our community! Maryl
Very nice location, across from zoo and on the edge of a forest preserve. Great facility, wonderful staff and great residents. Weekly and occasional activities for residents and family. I can only speak to the independent living facility but I am very happy my father ended up here.

August 9, 2023Dear Donna, I'm happy to hear that your Dad is happy with his choice to live in the Cantata Community. We love having him! Maryl
Exceptional care and friendly staff. I had peace of mind knowing that my father-in-law was well cared for, had planned activities and people around to talk with and add meaning to his day. Very clean community. Hidden gem on beautiful grounds!

My Mom is very happy at Cantata. They offer daily activities that keep her busy and out of her room. The staff is awesome! [name removed] at the front desk treats everyone like they are her own parents. The nursing staff is excellent and take care of my Mom.

July 27, 2023Dear Rita, Thank you for the review! We are all delighted that your mom is living her best life! She brings a lot to Cantata! We are glad to have her (and you!) as part of the Cantata Family. Warmest regards, Maryl
They were very helpful in selecting what type of assistance is appropriate. [name removed], the head nurse goes above and beyond to assist with setting up doctors visits, communicating issues with my mother that have been addressed and follow up care administered. [name removed] was outstanding in assisting with selection of appropriate apartment and alternative options to meet the timeliness of the move.

Our family had an in person tour with Cantata and we felt it was old and dingy. I found it depressing. Staff was great, but I removed it from consideration. The one positive item was that it has skilled nursing on site. Otherwise it was a hard NO.
It is a nice community with everything right there like independent living, assisted living, rehab and even talks about a memory care unity. The meals sometimes are a hit or miss. Even with the issues and hiccups we have had with our loved one, the nursing staff is always responsive to any questions or concerns. They have been really helpful and that is something that is very appreciative.

I would recommend this community to anyone for your loved one's care. They have been as good as can be expected during the pandemic. The community has locked down due to COVID. Meals are being served to the resident's rooms with no choice of the menu.
