My heartfelt gratitude to this memory care facility for the outstanding care provided to my father. The staff goes above and beyond, knowing each resident by name and making them feel truly special. The level of attention and kindness is remarkable. Additionally, the food is delicious. It feels like a small family. Yesterday the boy scouts were coming to help the residents plant a garden, today they were making Christmas ornaments and there is always music! My loved one is currently a resident at Brookdale Champions. Our experience at this facility has been great so far, aside from one issue. The only issue that we've had is with the billing. They are continually charging for things that did not happen. Other than that, we've had no issues at all. I would recommend this facility to family and friends, with caution about the billing concerns.

Brookdale Champions is very nice and would provide a comfortable place for a family member. It's a little on the pricey side and my biggest complaint would be lack of proactive communication from the staff. We picked this community, because they had a locked down memory care unit, were close to where my mom lived, and located in a part of Houston that I was familiar with.

We had a great tour experience with Brookdale Champions. The lady showing us around was very nice and helpful and all of the staff we got to interact with were friendly. They also got back to me in a timely manner. The only downfall for us was the location of the facility.
Brookdale Champions has been a comfortable place in the first six weeks of my parents new life there. The staff is very welcoming and warm. They are very happy with the food.

We chose Brookdale Champions because the sales manager was very nice and helpful. She knew her stuff and was very personable and easy to talk to. Out of all the places that we looked at this was definitely the cleanest. The staff really cares about their residents. They have lots of activities provided although my loved one does not participate yet. I would definitely recommend Brookdale to others.

The workers have been extremely kind and friendly. They come pretty quickly when the call button is pressed on their bracelet. Communication is good and has improved with the new director, there are a lot more emails going out to families, telling us about activities and so forth. My loved ones apartment is the reason why we chose Brookdale. It has a main area, a kitchenette, a bathroom and a bedroom that's closed off behind two double doors. We needed something more than just a one single room, as both pf my parents are there. Some of their activities include bingo - which my dad does all the time and a morning exercise class led by one of the residents. The class is about 45 minutes and it's kind of like a "sit and be fit" that focuses on arms and legs. They bring in musical guests like a pianist and that's usually once a month. One time it was a family band that consisted of the parents and their children. They're planning a Hawaiian Lau, and they decorate for holidays too. I've also noticed a crafts room too, I'll see people doing things like needle work or painting. I would recommend Brookdale Champions to others. It's been a great transition from home to assisted living, overall.

I did not like this community too much. The tour looked good but when we used it the care did not compare to my expectations and just did not give us that vibe that we were looking for at all.
Response from Brookdale Champions
December 10, 2021We deeply regret that we were unable to meet all of your expectations. We want to thank you for taking the time to visit and for providing feedback. Please know it will be reviewed and used to better serve our residents and their families in the future.
I like the place. The memory care director is very attentive and passionate about patient care. The caregivers follow thought with patient care and attentive to the residents needs. I chose this community because they were a more family oriented community. I would this recommend community.

Brookdale was a nice clean faculty. The staff was very professional and very outgoing. They really tried to make the residents feel comfortable and like they were at home. My sister was in their memory care. They were there when we needed them. Room was adequate in size. They welcomed my grandchildren when they visited. Very nice place, nice setting. Staff really tried their best to be there for the residents.

The Staff, [name removed] was a delight. She greeted me promptly and was very courteous. She provided me with information - not pushy and understood the process of a loved one trying to make this important decision.

I began searching for assisted living facilities after my 73 year old sister fell and broke her ankle just before Thanksgiving. Time was a huge factor, since she was in a rehab center with no definite date for discharge, and we knew she wouldn’t be able to stay by herself in her home. My search directed me to “A Place for Mom” and I grudgingly filled out the information. Little did I know it would be the lifeline we needed. Within the hour [Removed], Senior Living Advisor, called and gathered pertinent information about my sister—her interests, hobbies, medical needs—and most importantly, that her beloved dog had to go wherever she ended up. [Removed] immediately sent me a list of nearby facilities that were pet-friendly, and I scheduled tours with two of them that week. Both facilities were impressive, with warm, caring staffs, but we decided that Brookdale Champions best met our needs. With the holidays looming and my sister’s unexpected loss of independence, we were emotion wrecks. [Removed] and the rest of the staff at BC listened patiently and offered great support in accommodating us. We couldn’t be more pleased, and my sister is making new friends and loving the food. The staff helps out with dog duty—thanks a million, J—-and communication is excellent from the nurse, [Removed], and others. I highly recommend utilizing “A Place for Mom” in your search for the right facility. We are forever grateful to Molly for her assistance in pointing us to Brookdale Champions.

The caregivers do not seem to interact with the residents in the memory care area. They are not taking care of the residents personnel needs. They do not encourage the residents to be active or social. The staff talk down to the residents. They do not offer healthy snacks. My loved one has declined since moving into this community.

My father in law is doing well since his move to this community, but my mother in law is having some health issues. However we do feel they are safe, and in good hands in this community. A place for mom was great with all they help they provided us with. This is a lovely community, and I would recommend it.

This was a nice community on the tour for the care for my mom. We likes the staff members who were very nice. The community was very nice and maintained. We like the list of the activiites that would of been offered. The menu was appealing of the healthy meals that would of been offered. We would recommend that other families tour this community for the care of a loved one.

Unfortunately my mother will be needing more care than this community is able to provide, but overall our experience went well. This an awesome community with very caring people. They have a great staff at this facility. Overall it was a pleasant community, and I was satisfied with all they did for us.

When we toured Brookdale Champions, it was a very nice place with nice people. The main thing with this Brookdale was that it did not meet my mom's needs. It was a clean place, though.

Love the facility however their finance department is lacking. A check was written on 11/30/16 as rent for my mother's move in on December 3. I specifically told them not to deposit the large check until I had a chance to transfer monies from one account to another. Later that day I called again telling them not to process the paperwork or payment until I got back with them as my sister was coming in from out of town to visit their facility. On December 9, as I was driving out of town to my daughter's wedding, I received notification from my bank that I was overdrawn due to that large check being deposited into my checking account. Their finance department said sorry and that I would be reimbursed by corporate (has yet to happen and today is 12/15.) I also mentioned the overdraft fee and was told they would check and see if that could be reimbursed. Not impressed!

A Place for Mom has scored Brookdale Champions 9.1 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
