We were recently looking for an assisted living community for our Dad and thankfully found Ararat Gardens. Dad didn’t want to move out of his home and many other communities in the area fell short of what our family was looking for. This process was new to our family and we were all having a hard time with this change. We met with [name removed] and he helped us so much. He was informative, compassionate, helpful, honest and transparent. He made dad, and all of us, feel at ease and supported. He helped make the process so simple. We moved dad in a few months ago and it has been the best thing we could have done. Dad has found new friends and seems happier than he has been in a long time. He is getting the care he was lacking at home and seems like he has found a new sense of purpose. We are so grateful for [name removed] , the care staff and this community as a whole.

I visit this location to see my best friend's mother about once a week. Every time I visit everyone is extremely friendly and there are two residents that are always sitting the the lobby greeting everyone and have the best smiles. They make my day every time.

The community was very clean; people were very friendly Very good conversation / tour. Provided useful, constructive feedback. A good enough detail to facility activities including outdoor activities outside of the community.

I toured this facility last month because my father was in the hospital, and he was needing a place with rehabilitation and a long term option after rehab. If my sister didn’t decide to move in with him and take care of him, he would have moved into this facility. Everyone I met was really friendly and was able to meet a couple residents who welcomed my daughter and I to lunch while we were there. I would recommend anyone looking for a facility to move here. Once my sister decides she can’t take care of my father anymore, he will join Ararat Gardens of Glendale.

I am a current resident at Ararat Gardens. One thing I really enjoy about Ararat is the seating arrangement for meals because you get to meet someone new every day. Also, it helps people not stick to one group day after day. There is some opportunity with menu options for meals. I really enjoy the activities, even though I don't always participate I like having the option. There is always something going on throughout the day.

Great staff and a very clean community! I was able to schedule a tour with the sales professional and he was able to walk me through the community and answer all of my questions. I can see my loved on living here one day.

This place was wonderful when it was still [removed], since this new company, Ararat Gardens took over it's just terrible. The food served is just unfortunate. It's not a sanitary place as we can tell from almost daily findings of hair or insects in the food. The workers are nice, but that's just not good enough. Would not recommend this place.

Response from Ararat Gardens
September 21, 2023Hi Eleanor, we have shared your concerns with our team here at Ararat Gardens and are working on correcting any errors that may be found. Thank you.
I am super impressed. I haven't been to see my aunt since the late spring, so I'm not sure about further transitions with the Ararat people, but everyone I met when I was there the last time were the same line staff. Everyone is very friendly to me, they use correct health protocols, and it is a wonderful place for my aunt to live. I did a lot of investigation prior, and I think that is good value for money.

What we really like about Ararat Gardens is that the staff are very friendly, competent and it is a very caring Senior Community. We also really like the individual health monitoring (life alert system). Based on our experience so far we would recommend this community to other families.

[name removed] greeted me for my appointment. I liked the entrance that was very cheerful and bright. The coffee /Tea station was inviting. Truly liked the garden in the middle and went through couple of independent living section which was very new and bright. Spoke with couple of residence, who were happy to be there. Visited assisted living wing as well the carpet in the hallway needs a new facelift but still very clean. My mother in law has not decided for her procedure, she is scheduled for a second opinion if she decides on it then I will certainly reach out to you community office again.

When this was run by Human Good this was a great place. Now that Ararat Homes took over it's deplorable. The food is not edible. The kitchen was closed due to rodent infestation. They served tuna fish sandwiches for Easter Dinner. There is no working HVAC system in the health care center. PLEASE DON'T SEND YOUR FAMILY MEMBER THERE!

Response from Ararat Gardens
April 19, 2023Hi Lea, We've read your comments and have taken all necessary steps to remedy your concerns. Thank you, Diana
My loved one enjoys the activities and there is always something going on. The staff work hard to make sure she is included. She walks and is able to get exercise and be monitored by the staff. My loved one feel safe and secure in the area this is located to be able to go walk. She really likes the food. They provided her a temporary guest suite as she was transitioning to get her belongings to her place into her actual apartment. They didn't push it, or pressure her to rush the move. They knew it was a huge change for our loved one and we appreciate how they took that delicately. They are very caring. The place isn't separated, so my loved one can go visit assisted living residents as well. It's a very open concept. You can see what you are spending is being put back into the community and its residents.

I have not been in Windsor very long, but so far everything has been very good. I do not see anything that needs to be improved. Everybody here is very nice. All the people, from the caregivers to the maintenance staff and everyone else, is extremely friendly and helpful.

Windsor Manor has been the best facility for our 92-year-old mother. She has made many new friends and enjoys many of the activities available. The facility is like a 5 star hotel; the grounds are beautiful and the rooms are kept very clean. The food is gourmet and delicious!

My 87 year old mom has lived in independent living at Windsor for two years. I live in another state, but I helped with the transition, and I feel very strongly that Windsor is a fine and caring retirement community. The staff here is really beyond exemplary; and they very obviously care for the residents. They work hard, are thoughtful and kind. Many of them have worked here for a long time. Windsor is part of the be.group, which is a non-profit organization. This makes me happy--profit is not a motive, nor a concern. Making life comfortable is Windsor's goal. I have visited three times per year, and stayed a week each time. I get to see first hand the community and the sense of family that exists here. I feel confident that my mom made the right choice in moving to Windsor. It is a very safe, clean, comprehensive retirement community. We just had an incredible Christmas dinner, and the staff were all incredible. Every aspect of this place is designed to make life better for seniors.

It wasn't perfect, but nothing is. We were here for a long time. You don't stay somewhere for a long time if you aren't happy with it. They were clean and friendly. The staff was wonderful and they were able to accommodate most of our needs until we needed a higher level of care.

Yeah, they want a $99,000 buy in, then close to $5000/mo on top of that. No buy-in please.

A Place for Mom has scored Ararat Gardens 8.9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
