I would definitely recommend American House to others, after looking at 4 other places in Chicagoland area.The activities are extraordinary, and my mom who has lived 40 years in her own house is actually happy here and more so than I've seen her in years. We picked this community because of the cleanliness of the facility, it is brand new, it's very bright, and the staff is wonderful.

The front desk and CNA's in Memory Care are friendly and caring. The CNA's are good communicators with the residents as well as the families. ED, nursing and CNA staff are all good communicators so far. There are new directors of Nursing and Memory Care, so not a long history yet but they seem nice and competent. The housekeeping is generally good. They could pay more attention to the supplies that they provide like filling soap dispensers and trash can liners, but those are minor issues. The move in was pretty easy. It's a good long push from the garage to the elevator. Their team helped hang pictures and a wall mounted TV. The meals are good. Fresh Ingredients and made in the kitchen. Service is good, with nice table settings, cloth napkins and lots of beverages offered to residents. It's a beautiful property, but what really matters is the care and food. So far, they have not disappointed I would recommend American House Oak Park to others.

Everybody has growing pains, it is a brand new facility but the people are here wonderful and doing the best that they can - the biggest difficulty has been staffing just like everywhere else in the world right now. One of the biggest draws for my parents was the fact that it was brand new and it was something where they could all grow together as a community. I would definitely recommend American House Oak Park to others.
