My husband who has Alzheimer's, has been a resident at ActivCare at 4S Ranch for [time frame removed]. Before I placed my husband in their care, I researched and visited at least 15 facilities in my area. I chose ActivCare for a variety of reasons. First of all, they specialized in memory care and their ratio for caregiver to patient is excellent. It was obvious from my first visits to evaluate this facility that they had a loving and caring staff that was well-trained to help individuals with memory care problems. In addition, I really appreciated the many activities that occurred throughout the day for the residents. These activities allowed the individuals to socialize, engage and stay alert! These activities took place in the main activity room or in good weather the outdoor patio areas. This main activity room is of utmost importance at ActivCare! Most of the residents spend their day in this room. This encourages individuals to be social with one another, engaged in daily activities and not spend the majority of their day isolated in their bedrooms with no stimulation. The safety of my husband in a care facility was another major concern to me! ActivCare is a one-story building with many secured exits and a well-planned evacuation route in case of emergency! Many of the other facilities I visited had the memory care ward on the top floors leaving only the elevator or stairs as an evacuation route-These locations left individuals that were in wheel chairs at a huge disadvantage. In addition, all exits at ActivCare are secured so residents cannot leave the building on their own nor can strangers enter. ActivCare 4S Ranch welcomes seniors to a resort-like memory care community that has beautiful mountain views in the distance. The facility is located in San Diego, California, and is within driving distance of the local hospital.
ActivCare 4S Ranch offers quality care for every resident from the beginning to the end stages of Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia, all of which include accommodating living spaces. Supervision is provided by trained caregivers and on-site nurses around the clock. These caregivers stay up to date on current memory care practices through on-going educational programs and training. The community separates residents into five different neighborhoods based on their stage of memory loss. All neighborhoods consist of cozy semi-private and private bedroom options.
While living at ActivCare 4S Ranch, residents have access to a wide range of recreational activities and homelike amenities. Residents can participate in a variety of pastimes through the community’s activity program, which is designed for seniors with memory loss. ActivCare at 4S Ranch is an excellent facility! I encountered kind and professional employees during my visit while we were looking for a site for my father who is still not relocating from [removed]. Highly recommended. Your loved one's services will be unparalleled!

During our loved ones stay the community was absolutely excellent, he received the best care he could of there we have no complaints whatsoever.

The distance was the problem. Did a virtual tour.
Activ Care has been fantastic especially during this tough situation with COVID. I would want others to know that it is a fairly new facility. The room layouts are great and they have their own bathrooms. The public areas are also big so they have plenty of room for activities, eating, socializing, etc. The location has also been perfect for our family. The administrator and manager have just been terrific. I would absolutely recommend to others looking.
